The numbers speak volumes of the success of the latest iteration of China Maritime 2014, which was held on 18-19 February 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong. The region's key event attracted a total of 1,774 highly-qualified visitors and 1,600 conference delegates and reaped accolades from all concerned. Those in attendance included senior executives from international ship-owning companies as well as shipbuilders, ship managers and suppliers in the region's shipbuilding industry. They made the most of the excellent platform for industry players that the event offered to network and exchange ideas.

The event also provided a fillip to the development of regional maritime industries across Asia markets through the display of cutting-edge technologies such as high-speed propellers, global broadband satellite communications, oil mist detection systems, and ship propulsion systems. Services to the maritime sector also featured prominently at China Maritime 2014, offering show visitors opportunities to enhance their competitiveness and profitability.Interactions, discussions and business leads generated at China Maritime 2014 will most surely contribute to business growth at companies that participated and attended moving forward.

Further, the International Maritime Summit, addressed over 30 of the hottest, most current, and most relevant topics in the industry sector, was keynoted by a presentation from Dr. Christine Loh, Under Secretary for the Environment, Environment Bureau of Hong Kong, who spoke on laws governing the environmental pollution of ship activities in Hong Kong. This and other high-level presentations covering topics such as crew welfare, ballast water/LNG systems, maritime insurance, legal issues and global maritime trends delivered the knowledge, tools and know-how to conference attendees enabling them to better conduct business moving forward.

Event visitors also availed themselves of the fabulous networking opportunities presented at the Networking Cocktail Reception sponsored by Wartsila. The reception was extremely well attended and proved to be yet another highlight of China Maritime 2014.

According to Susan Yin, Sales & Marketing Execution Manager, Wärtsilä China Ltd., "The 10th Annual Wärtsilä – Hong Kong Ship Owners Association joint seminar was successfully held on the afternoon of 18 Feb during China Maritime 2014 in Hong Kong.
